Contessa
The Contessa slate is one of the flattest and most uniform slates available within the UK market, and as a result requires minimal sorting and grading.
This slate originates from Northern Spain, in the heart of the popular and historic slate producing areas. The quarry has been operational since the 1960’s and ISS have been working with the site for over 30 years.

Contessa
- Contessa natural slate comes in a blue-black colour, that may exhibit some visual inert pyrite. This pyrite will not affect the performance of the slate as a watertight roof covering.
- This slate boasts a uniform, smooth face and neatly dressed edges.
- Contessa slate proudly conforms and surpasses all the top UK tests for water absorption, thermal cycle resistance and sulphur dioxide (acid rain) exposure with an excellent W1-S1-T1 rating.
- Having been put through the most stringent selection process, the Contessa comes in a 4/5mm and a 6/7mm thickness and is tested to the British UKCA requirements.
- Full UK guarantee of up to 50 years for the Contessa slate. All our natural slate products come with a guarantee and declaration of performance.
